SP31.7 MKII SURROUND-SOUND PROCESSOR    $3,995.00

A disturbing trend among well-know audio component manufacturers' is to ignore their expertise in audio reproduction when building multi-channel processors in an effort to pack their products full of features. Too often this approach results only in user confusion, operational frustration and poor sound and video quality This was not the case for the design team at Primare responsible for producing the SP31.7mkII multi-channel processor. They realized the SP31.7mkII would have to be more than just another full-featured remote controlled multi-channel processor. In reality, it was built up from three distinct and fully realized basic component designs.

The complete movie experience from Primare

First, a highly sophisticated balanced two channel or unbalanced multi-channel analog pre-amplifier, with circuitry derived from the award winning PRE30. Second, the sonic attributes of the preamplifier circuitry are wedded to an advanced multi-channel processor, possessing not only remarkable digital decoding capabilities, but truly useful control and configuration features as well. Last but not least, it contains an HD ready ultra-wide bandwidth video switcher of such inherent superiority that every video signal that passes through it, whether component, S-video, and even composite, will exhibit obviously apparent picture quality superior to the image presented through any switching device included in other audio-video processors. This attention to all the details of audio and video performance, alongside the sophisticated processing and easy to use control features, means that the SP31.7mkII continues in the longstanding Primare tradition of superior performance and value.

Regrettably, many well-known brand name surround processors use off-the-shelf sound processing chips. Despite their best intentions, many of today's processors sound largely homogenized. Primare's own proprietary DSP was developed to embody the “audiophile” sound so much a part of the companies' heritage resulting it a product of exceptional merit. The SP31.7mkII can provide up to 192kHz/24-bit digital processing to accommodate virtually all current multi-channel formats and allows for future expansion and upgrades as technology advances. In addition, a 7.1 channel “through-put” is available for the interface of a DVD-A or SACD source. Designed essentially for the superior reproduction of film sound, the SP31.7mkII is equally adept at interface with “whole-house” control systems. Equipped with a standard RS-232 interface protocol that allows your Primare home theater system to be integral with any multi-room, multi-zone system. With 9 video and 8 digital inputs and component video switching, the SP31.7mkII can perform as “control-central” for even the most elaborate of home theaters. An intuitive on-screen set-up menu is highly comprehensive, yet easy to operate. A considerable number of programmable features are provided for the customization of your particular operational preferences. For example, one can program the exact number of active source inputs to directly access them or scroll trough without “seeing” the unused inputs! Like all Primare components, the SP31.7mkII is built to the most exacting standards of sound quality, construction and reliability. Ergonomic engineering is first-rate, making the SP31.7mkII one of the easiest to operate surround sound processors on the market today.
