Audio and Video Features
The DVD26 HDMI allows you to play CD/CD-R/CD-RW/MP3/JPEG and DVD-V/DVD-R/DVD+R discs for true multi-media compatibility. All video outputs can be loaded simultaneously, making the player ideal for multi-zone installations. The player is capable of down-mixing Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 encoded material to two channels and transmitting RAW SPDIF data from its digital output, to a decoder in the second zone. The player incorporates a video DAC ADV7300 from Burr-Brown, which via extensive video buffering drives all the interlaced outputs including the RGB SCART. The Pixelworks' video processor, NV221, drives the progressive outputs that are available on both component and VGA connectors (an optional DVI board is available at additional cost),
Burr-Brown's superb 24bit/192kHz PCM1738 is used as the audio DAC. The current to voltage conversion is a half discrete circuit, which incorporates both operational amplifiers from Philips (NE5532) and Burr Brown (OPA2134). The DVD26 HDMI has a single-ended output stage with a single MOSFET transistor together with an active current source instead of the use of passive resistors. Special care has been taken to keep the video noise at the lowest possible level by the use of separate ground planes, power supplies and special OS-Con capacitors in critical positions. SMD technology is used whenever possibly to keep the signal path as short as possible.
Advanced Power Supply and Shielding
The DVD26 uses a linear power supply, incorporating a fantastic R-core transformer with separate windings for the player's different power requirements (mechanic, audio, video, digital, etc). Every one of these is individually regulated in fifteen steps to ensure that enough power is constantly available. The power supply is placed as far away as possible from the delicate analogue and video circuits. The internal mains filter ensures that any high frequency disturbance is removed before it reaches the power transformer. This power supply configuration gives the player an extremely high signal to noise ratio for both audio and video and for which Primare has become renowned all over the world. The analog audio sections are supplied with mains power in standby mode. This means that no run-in time is necessary for the player when activated from standby mode. Its performance will be the same as if it were left in operating mode continuously.
As with all Primare units, the DVD26 HDMI is housed in an alloy heavy gauge steel chassis, which provides strength, rigidity, and screening, while being effective at damping vibrations from external sources. The front panel design isolates the display circuitry from the audio and video circuitry to avoid interference
Connectivity
The DVD 26 HDMI provides a wide range of video and audio outputs to embrace numerous system-building options:
Video outputs
2 Component (one interlaced, one progressive), 1 S-video, 1 Composite, 1 SCART (RGB compatible) and 1 HDMI. The Player incorporates a backside slot-in that can be used for future upgrades, for example the optional DVI output.
Digital Video Output (optional)
The DVI-PCB output module on the DVD26 HDMI incorporates one digital DVI-output, one analog Component. The heart of the DVI-module is a PW1235 video signal processor from Pixelworks. This chip is both a scaler and video DAC and its digital outputs feed the DVI transmitter from Silicon Image (SIL170), which incorporates HDCP support. The analog outputs are fed to the filter and buffer stage, which gives the DVD26 HDMI analog outputs the highest possible performance.
Audio outputs
1 Two-Ch Analog RCA
1 Digital Coax
1 Digital TOSLINK
Multi-media inputs
To allow the DVD26 HDMI to perform in specialized automated multi-room applications, it is equipped with RS232 control capability, and offers both data and IR inputs.
Easy navigation
The DVD26 HDMI is easy to use. All the parameters are adjusted using simple and comprehensive On-Screen Display menus.
